Reading Analog Clocks
I didn't grow up needing to read an analog clock quickly or often. They were always present, and I knew how to read them, but I preferred digital clocks.
It takes me about 10 seconds to read an analog clock, whether at full precision or just to get a sense of the time.
Sometimes however, if an analog clock is in view, without me trying or thinking about it, a thought will appear somewhere on the desk of my mind which reads, "It's 9:42".
I'll think, "Why, and how, did I know that?" and then I'll see the analog clock, take 10 seconds to confirm, and realize what's going on.
I have no idea why this happens.
